In English

Ortho-bionomy is a therapeutic and educational form of body therapy. Based on the same principles as osteopathy, it encourages the body to use its natural ability to self-regulate bodily tensions.
The practitioner stimulates the patient’s auto-correction reflexes, encouraging the body in its instinctive regulation processes.
Ortho-bionomy helps to identify the origin of these tensions and allows a gentle and progressive correction of the physical and emotional strains that lie behind bodily tensions.

Ortho-bionomy may be of great assistance in the following situations:
-          osteomuscular imbalances, tensions and pains; cramps, sciatica…
-          postural imbalances: scoliosis, kyphosis, lordosis…
-          various functional problems: headaches, vertigo, problems with digestion, sleep and eyesight, menstrual pain…
-          as an accompanying treatment in certain cases of depression, addiction and behavioural issues
-          pregnancy; assistance before and after birth
-          as an accompanying treatment for certain serious, chronic or degenerative illnesses; comfort, relaxation, pain relief, palliative care
-          general day-to-day bodily wellbeing

Ortho-bionomy respects each patient’s individual rhythm and personal physical imbalances, encompassing both physical and emotional aspects, in addition to the role of the human body’s different energies.
This highly personalised approach allows the patient to develop a better knowledge of his or her own body, thereby permitting them to better manage their day-to-day life and events.
Ortho-bionomy gives the body back its natural movement, with a focus on the patient’s feelings and intuition. It encourages the patient to develop a new type of relationship with their body, with others and with the world, in order to help them to develop the self-assurance to shape their life.

My background

"I go without thinking but at the same time I know where I’m going…" Alberto Giacometti

Throughout my studies in Applied Arts, i was continually drawn to observing and analyzing the body. My interest in Music reinforced this, and singing opera prompted me to develop a set of vocal techniques focused mainly on posture and breath.

These experiences led me to study physiotherapy in Belgium.

My interest in the field was a natural cumulation of what i had studied and experienced: that the human body should be considered as a whole; a sum of physical, emotional and energetic dimensions. I then met Doatea Bensusan who trained me in Ortho-bionomy and introduced me into the art and science of movement and dance.

I also studied Herbalism at the Ecole des Plantes de Lessines, in Belgium. The experience reinforced my belief in essential oils and the healing power of individually-tailored massage oils.

Upon returning to France, i completed my degree in Pharmacology, an experience that allowed me to both practice and question different treatments treatment protocols in contemporary medicine.

Today, Ortho-bionomy is the focus of my work in bodily wellbeing. My primary objective is to find an approach that is physically, emotionally and energetically appropriate for each individual that i work with.

In addition to one-on-one appointments with clients, i am also conducting personal development workshops emphasizing body awareness, confidence and freedom of expression.

Please contact me if you'd like me to send you the full list of courses available, although some are listed here:

Questions about ortho-bionomy

1) How long does an ortho-bionomy session last?
Around one hour and half.

2) Should I dress in a particular way for my session?
You should ideally wear loose clothing that allows freedom of movement.

3) What is the recommended cycle of sessions?
In general, three sessions are necessary, at 7 to 10 days interval.
After these three sessions, we will assess your progress together to see if other sessions will be necessary.

4) From what age is ortho-bionomy appropriate?
Ortho-bionomy is suitable for all, from the youngest to the oldest. It is particularly useful for pregnant woman and the elderly. Equally, young children often have a greater ability to feel and allow the body to conduct its self-regulation processes, due to their naturally lower levels of mental control and protection.

5) Does ortho-bionomy have a short or long-term effect?
Ortho-bionomy stimulates the body’s self-regulation reflexes. It therefore has a long-term effect because the major part of the work will, in fact, be carried out by the patient’s body itself, and not by the practitioner, assuming that the patient understands and integrates the treatment that they receive.

6) Are there situations where ortho-bionomy cannot help?
Ortho-bionomy is not a medicine and cannot act as a substitute for urgent treatment or medical care that a person might need.
However, ortho-bionomy can be a very good complement to classical medical treatment, and can also provide a great deal of comfort and support.

7) I am currently undergoing medical treatment and/or sessions with another practitioner. Could ortho-bionomy interfere with this?
Ortho-bionomy is compatible with all forms of medical treatment and will not interfere with the care that you might be receiving. However, if you are already undergoing a physical treatment (physiotherapy, osteopathy, acupuncture, kinesiology…) you should take care not to create confusion for your body, particularly if these treatments work in an antagonistic manner. This could make it difficult for you to manage the different types of information that you are receiving, and could hinder your body’s self-adjustment reflexes, and therefore the success of the ortho-bionomy treatment.
Have confidence in your body and give it time to do its work.

8) I do not have any injuries or other health concerns. Could ortho-bionomy still be of interest to me?
Yes, definitely. Some people use ortho-bionomy as a preventative treatment, in order to reduce their daily tensions or stiffness and prevent these from developing into injuries.
Equally, for those who are seeking assistance with relaxation, ortho-bionomy offers a real moment of calm wellbeing, both inside and out.
